Focus and Scope

JSB: Journal of Sharia Banking is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year in June and December by Sharia Banking Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Bisnis, state Islamic religious institute Padangsidimpuan. JSB is published to support the development of Islamic Banking which will contain articles on Islamic Banking both empirical, theoretical, and practical studies. The editor accepts the manuscript with provisions according to the guidelines for the author.


FOCUS

The journal focuses on the economic, banking, and contemporary development of Islam through the publication of articles by research.


SCOPE

The Journal of sharia banking specializes in Islamic Economic studies and is intended to communicate original research and current issues on the subject. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines. The Al-Masharif invites manuscripts in the areas of:

The journal of sharia banking accepts articles in any related subjects and any research methodology that meets the standards established for publication in the journal. The primary, but not exclusive, audiences are academicians, students, practitioners, and others interested in Islamic Economic research. The primary criterion for publication in the journal of sharia banking is the significance of the contribution an article makes to the literature and practice in the Islamic Economic area, i.e., the significance of the contribution and on the rigor of analysis and presentation of the paper. The acceptance decision is made based upon an independent review process that provides critically constructive and prompt evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Peer Review Process

General Information


Criteria for Publication


journal of sharia banking: Jurnal perbankan syariah, Ekonomi dan Keislaman, receives many articles related to submissions to be published. Thus, peer-reviewers accept articles selectively and reject the papers which may need intolerable revisions. To be published in the journal of sharia banking, a paper should meet four general criteria:

- Presenting considerable evidence for its conclusions.
- Clear novelty.
- Distinct significance for scientists in the field.
- Open for inter or multi-disciplinary studies.
Overall, the acceptable paper should represent an outstanding comprehension which is liable to inspire the thinking develepment of the field. There should be a perceptible reason as to why the work deserves to be published in the journal of sharia banking.

The review process

Each submitted manuscript is read by the editorial staff. Only those papers that seem most likely to meet our editorial criteria are sent for full peer review. Those papers assessed by the editors to be of insufficient general interest or otherwise inappropriate are rejected promptly based on internal and external advice from reviewer specialists in the field).

Peer-reviewer Selection

Reviewer selection is essential for the publication process based on many factors, including expertise, reputation, specific recommendations, and our experience of reviewing the publication process. Furthermore, we ensure the potential reviewers before sending them manuscripts to review.

The potential manuscripts to our readership interest are sent for the next review, at least by two reviewers. The editors then make a decision based on the reviewers' recommendation.

 

Writing the review

The main purpose of the review is to provide the editors with the information needed to determine the accepted manuscripts. The review should also advise the authors as to how they can rewrite for a better paper to comply with editorial requirements.

Anonymity

We conduct a double-blind review so the authors and the reviewer were unknown to each other. Unless the reviewers feel so strongly to identify the author, nonetheless, we prefer that reviewers are anonymous throughout the review process and beyond.

As far as possible, a negative review should explain to the authors the weaknesses of their manuscript, so that rejected authors can understand the basis for the decision and see in broad terms what needs to be done to improve the manuscript.

This is secondary to the other functions, however, and referees should not feel obliged to provide detailed, constructive advice to the authors of papers that do not meet the criteria for the journal (as outlined in the letter from the editor when asking for the review).

Ethics and security


journal of sharia banking: Jurnal Ilmu Ekonomi dan Keislaman editors may seek advice about submitted papers not only from technical reviewers but also on any aspect of a paper that raises concerns. These may include, for example, ethical issues or issues of access to data or materials.

Very occasionally, concerns may also relate to the implications to society of publishing a paper, including threats to security. In such circumstances, advice will usually be sought simultaneously with the technical peer-review process. Overall, publishing decisions, the ultimate decision as to whether to publish is the responsibility of the editor of the journal concerned.

This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer­­­­­ and the publisher (Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan)

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Journal Of Sharia Banking is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is, therefore, important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society. Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, Indonesia as the publisher of the journal of sharia banking takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions

The editor of the Journal Of Sharia Banking is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. 

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Editor(s)

An Editor should endeavor to be a leader in the specific field of practice underpinning journal content as it helps the journal development, presence, and standing within the international community.

An editor should also familiarize themselves with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

An Editor may have to make all the decisions regarding which articles to accept or reject for publication.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or another substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

This journal charges the following author fees.

Authors are NOT required to pay an Article Submission Fee.

 

Repository Policy

  • Journal Of Sharia Banking allows all versions of the article (submitted, accepted, or published) to be deposited in an institutional or another repository of the author’s choice without embargo, such as sherpa/Romeo, Dulcinea, Diadorim, or Petra repository (Publisher's repository).

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. All content in the LOCKSS Archive and the Global LOCKSS Network is preserved with explicit publisher permission, secured via written contract or through online permission statements. We work closely with LOCKSS network implementers to facilitate development of governance and legal terms that are appropriate to the implicated content, jurisdictions, rights, and access affordances.
