The purpose of this study was to look at the relation between self-regulated learning and learning outcomes of PGMI study program students at UIN North Sumatra. This type of research is quantitative research using the correlational method. 42 students of PGMI study program were used as samples in this study. Data collection was done using a questionnaire and a list of grades Mathematics-II students (Geometry and Measurement). Based on the results of the pearson correlation test output obtained that there is a significant relation of self-regulated learning with student learning outcomes in Mathematics-II subjects. Furthermore, to see the strength or closeness of the correlation between the two variables can be taken a decision from the Pearson Correlation value of 0.793 is in the interpretation of the r value is strongly correlated, then the closeness or strength of the relationship between the two variables is categorized strong. Thus there is a strong positive correlation between self-regulated learning variables with learning outcomes of Mathematics-II subjects. <p>The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and practicality of the learning trajectory through a realistic approach to the subject of the Pythagorean theorem in SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sihapas. This research is a type of validation study design research that aims to develop local instruction theory (LIT) in collaboration with researchers and educators to improve the quality of learning. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sihapas with product trial subjects in class VIII-A, totaling 26 students. Data collection instruments used were validation sheets, questionnaires and using validity and practicality analysis techniques. The results showed that: 1) the learning trajectory through a realistic approach is said to be valid with validity 85 of the analysis of 3 validators; and 2) the learning trajectory through a realistic approach is said to be practical with a value of 85.44 from the student response questionnaire. The learning trajectory generated in this study is in the form of activities undertaken by students to achieve learning objectives, namely to understand the Pythagorean theorem concept.</p>Ahmad Nizar RangkutiAnwar Ibrahim Siregar

This research was started by the lowerness of students’ mathematical reasoning ability at VII grade of SMPN 1 Kerinci. That’s obtained from the student’s semester examination result then according to the experience, observation and interview results with the junior high school mathematic teachers. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of Problem Based Instruction (PBI) Model through student’s reasioning ability at VII grade of SMPN 1 Kerinci. This research is using quasy experiment method with Randomized Group Control Only Design. The population is all of seventh grade students in SMPN 1 Kerinci. This research is using Random Sampling Technique that students at VII-C grade as experimental group and VII-A grade as control group. The research instruments in this study is mathematical reasoning ability test to obtain students mathematical reasoning ability. The data is not have normal distribution so that we used Mann Whitney-U test with SPSS helped, obtained Sig (1-tailed). value = 0,000 < α = 0,05 so that rejected H<sub>0</sub>. According to the analyzed of the data, the conclusion obtained that student’s mathematical reasoning ability who learn with using PBI Model is better than using conventional learning.Eline Yanti Putri NasutionRilla Gina GunawanPutri Yulia

<p>The problem solving ability of students still low the problem of this research was mathematics. The purposes of this research was to know analyze improvement in mathematics problem solving ability of students that given group investigation learning with students that given direct learning. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were all students of Mathematics Education Study Program UIN North Sumatra Medan and the samples were taken by cluster random sampling based on existing classes, namely PMM-4 class as an experimental class and PMM-2 as a control class. Data collection techniques in this study were using tests of students' mathematical problem solving abilities (pre tests and post tests) in the form of essay tests. The collected data is then searched for the N-gain value and analyzed using t test with SPSS 17 software.. Based of the results analysis, it showed that: Improvment of the students’ mathematics problem solving ability that given group investigation learning model was higher than the students’ mathematics problem solving abiliy that given direct learning. His then, suggested that group investigation learning model used for lectures to improved students’ mathematics problem solving ability.</p>Tanti Jumaisyaroh Siregar

The challenge of Mathematics education is to find and choose learning models that are easy to understand, arousing, challenging to get involved in and eventually make students understand easily. This paper intends to be a bridge in the process of teaching and learning of integers and mathematical fallacies that often occur in mathematical operations. Integers play an important role in the development of mathematical knowledge and the use of these numbers enables the current generation to build space satellites and investigate the structure of the universe. Integers often look very simple but are actually very difficult to solve. On the other hand, carelessness in completing mathematical operations often results to fallacies that can cause ridiculousness. <p>The purpose of this study is to describe the creative thinking ability of Tadris/ Mathematics Education students in Padangsidimpuan IAIN in solving open-ended problems. The approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach that seeks to analyze the ability of students to think creatively in solving open-ended problems. The research subjects were students of the third semester of the Tadris / Mathematics Education Study Program at IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The research subjects consisted of 6 students consisting of 2 students in the high category, 2 students in the medium category, and 2 students in the low category. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, tests and interviews. Data analysis is performed by data reduction, data presentation and verification or conclusions. The data validity technique is done by triangulating data sources. The results showed that students' creative thinking ability for high category was very good in solving open-ended mathematics problems. The ability of students to think creatively for the category is in good criteria. The ability of students to think creatively for low categories as a whole is in poor criteria. Overall for low ability students still need coaching.</p>Diyah Hoiriyah

Based on the results of the research of the questionnaire score of students learning motivation mathematics then obtained an average of 76 with standard deviation 4.50 in the experimental class applied SAVI approach and average 65 with standard deviation 4.38 on the control class applied Variation Teaching Stimulus. Normality test in experimental class L<sub>0</sub> = 0,1296 and L<sub>tabel</sub> = 0,1730 then L<sub>0</sub> <L<sub>tabel </sub>(0,1296 <0,1730) and at control class L<sub>0</sub> = 0,1220 and L<sub>tabel</sub> = 0,1730 then L<sub>0</sub> <L<sub>tabel</sub> (0 , 1220 <0.1730) so it can be concluded that student questionnaires of both classes are normally distributed. And homogeneity test results obtained F<sub>hitung</sub><F<sub>tabel</sub> that is (1.073 <1.87). Seen from hypothesis test, the data of questionnaire motivation to learn mathematics t<sub>hitung</sub>>t<sub>tabel</sub> (9,13> 1,674) which H<sub>1</sub> accepted which mean there is difference of motivation learn mathematics between SAVI approach with Variation Teaching Stimulus in cube in class VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Padang year lessons 2015-2016. The results of observations in the experimental class applied SAVI approach obtained an average of 31.81 with a percentage of 79.52% in both categorize and in the experimental class applied Variations Teaching Stimulus obtained an average of 27.4 with percentage 68, 5% is adequately.Lilis Harianti Hasibuan

<p>This study aims to see how the efforts in improving the mathematical problem solving ability of high school students by learning STAD type cooperative strategies. This research is based on the importance of mathematical problem solving abilities that must be possessed by students, but the reality on the ground that these abilities are still very low. This research is an experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. This is done in order to find out how much improvement in the ability to solve mathematical problems taught by learning mathematics in STAD type cooperative strategies. For the experimental group, students are taught with STAD type cooperative strategies, while in the control group, students are taught by direct learning. The population of this study was high school students, while the sample was students of class XI IPA of Laksamana Martadinata Medan Private High School. Five classes were randomly selected, class XI IPA 3 class as the experimental class and XI IPA 1 as the control class. The instrument used in the form of problem solving problems. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that: 1) there is a mean difference between students who are taught with STAD type cooperative strategies and those who are in direct learning. 2) Improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities that get cooperative learning type STAD gets direct learning ineffective.</p>Siswadi Siswadi

<p>This research was conducted to see the extent of students' understanding of concepts and mathematical communication after being treated with learning using the RME and CTL approaches. The approach used in this research is quantitative with a type of quasi-experimental research. The population as well as the sample in this study were 2 classes with a total of 70 XI MAS PAB 2 Medan Estate students. Next to find out the understanding of concepts and mathematical communication students are given a description test. To process the data obtained using ANACOVA; The results of the data analysis test concluded: the level of understanding of the concepts of students who were treated with the RME approach was lower in influence than students who were treated with the CTL approach. The mathematical communication of students who were treated with the RME approach was less influential than students who were treated with the CTL approach. The level of understanding of mathematical concepts and communication of students who were treated with the RME learning approach was lower in influence than students who were treated with the CTL learning approach. Data analysis concluded that there was an interaction effect of applying the learning approach to students' understanding of concepts and mathematical communication.</p>Mara Samin Lubis

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant influence on giving reinforcement to students' mathematical self-concept. This research is a quantitative study using the Quasi-experimental method, the type of experimental design is the quasi-experimental method with the pretest-posttest control group design in two different classes which are divided into the experimental class and the control class. The population of this research is class VII MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan and the sample class VII 3 is 32 students and VII 11 is 34 students. Then the data collection instrument is a questionnaire. Analysis of the data used is descriptive and inferential statistical formulas namely normality test and hypothesis testing with paired sample z-test. In accordance with the hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample z-test, the price obtained by the price of zcount = -11,858, which is greater than ztable = 1.96, according to the basis of decision making in the z Test, zilia calculated <- ztable can be concluded H<sub>0</sub> is rejected and H<sub>a</sub> is accepted at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) this indicates that there is a significant effect of giving reinforcement to students' mathematical Self Concepts.Rahma Hayati Siregar
